Dr. Deborah A. Mitchell, PT, DPT, MPT, CGS
Dr. Debbie Mitchell understands how injuries can cause chronic pain and decreased ability to do the things you love. At 18 years old she was in a severe car accident, and it changed her life forever. She went to many practitioners who didn’t understand why her pain persisted after the standard treatments were provided.
She was very frustrated and the pain and headaches were limiting her ability to complete school work, workout, sleep and perform necessary daily tasks. Debbie was even called a malingerer, and was accused of not doing her home exercises, even though she was doing everything prescribed. She was even more frustrated to be dismissed when practitioners wouldn’t even touch her to assess her pain and symptoms. Many doctors would just want to prescribe her medications and send her on her way.
During her healing journey, Debbie became a Doctor of Physical Therapy, and tried all kinds of physical therapy treatments to relieve her symptoms. She was able to meet many practitioners along the way. This allowed Debbie to develop her unique treatment approach, and develop empathy for her patients. She understands each person and injury is unique, and needs to be treated as a whole person. Listening is VERY important.
After being plagued for years with pain, Debbie found John F. Barnes, PT and his Myofascial Release Approach. It was the missing link. Finally a treatment that addresses not only the symptoms, but the cause of the pain!
It is both physically and emotionally draining to not be able to fully participate in life. Debbie gets it. It can be scary to do activity if the end result is more pain. Worry can become paralyzing and fear can limit your potential for recovery.
It doesn’t need to be that way! Debbie has figured out a method to get and keep active adults and athletes to get back to their lives. She offers an alternative to medications, injections and surgery. There are options for you! It has become Debbie’s mission to help people just like you get back on track to living a fully active life.
If you have been plagued with injuries, accidents, and pain that is keeping you sidelined in your life and you are serious about recovery and returning to the activities you love, Red Rock Physical Therapy and Wellness is the place for you!
